Jacob A Tapia

Visual Storyteller. Documentary & Commercial Filmmaker

My initial foray into multimedia production began with crude drawings in the margins of books creating animations as a child. I eventually transitioned into the professional realm in 2001. During my 15+ year career in the design and multimedia industry, I have worked on projects for Xbox Live, Life Technologies, Sanyo, The Travel Channel, and Southern California Edison. Some of my past documentary projects include Venture Town USA, Entropy, sweet!, and The Brass Vanguard. Nothing get’s me more excited then embarking on a new project. Let’s create something great together!

WHAT’S BEEN SAID.

Jake is great to work with. My company has done multiple projects with Handrawn and they’re always top-notch! Jake’s passion for well produced cinematography is apparent and appreciated. Their knowledge / experience as well as patience, and fun personalities make our projects very rewarding and successful.

David Bourdon

Ph.D., Staff Scientist, Thermo Fisher Scientific

What a wonderful experience it was working with Jacob Tapia and Handrawn Pictures on the documentary, VentureTown, USA. Jake was more than a collaborator, he was a partner every step of the way. He provided some great camera work, editing, and an animation sequence that is the highlight of the movie. How would this movie have been completed without him…?

David Marchesani

Producer / Director, "VentureTown, USA", Westernfront Pictures

Jake Tapia of Handrawn Pictures is a true filmmaker. Jake’s attention to detail and willingness to listen to suggestions makes working with him easy and productive. Jake understands how to produce, shoot, edit and animate, he is a quadruple threat!

Lance Milbrand

Natural History, Corporate Filmmaker, Milbrand Cinema

Jake is the kind of guy who’s natural passion and aptitude allow him to apply his creativity to what ever you throw at him. There’s no need to micromanage the process and his response to feedback is super productive.

J. Farina

Axess Media

As a camera operator, Jake quickly proved that in a field of constant learning he was easily ahead of the curve. As a professional, his integrity was pure aces. The man deserves top marks all around. I am lucky to have had him in my crew, and I am very eager to work with him again.

AJ Calomay

Xylophone Films, Xbox Live

What I appreciate most about working with Jake is how he listened attentively to what I wanted, and provided original creative ideas and input, along with clear direction from start to finish. Collaborating with him was not only professional, but refreshingly easy and fun.

Stacy Dorius

Energy Coach, Simply Resonate

Working with Jake from Handrawn Pictures is a breath of fresh air! He delivers quality work on time and with a smile… what more can you ask for?

Abi Lewis

Lead Producer, Wooshii

Jake’s attention to detail and professional knowledge in his field makes him the best. Working with him was fun and the final product was outstanding. We highly recommend him to all our friends.

Bob McLean

Owner, Bob's Carpet Care

Ours felt more like a dare than a brief – a high production video in less than 9 working days… using children! Handrawn pulled it off with aplomb. Cool, calm and creative, we were impressed by their well thought out pitch ideas and no nonsense approach to production.

Ruth Speakman

Global Head of Communications, blur Group

More than a videographer; Jake helped us coordinate and condense our product message into a concise 4 minute production. We have received numerous positive comments on both the content and the presentation.

Bill Brown

CEO, Metric Systems Corporation

As well as being a creative filmmaker with the technical expertise to pull it off, Mr. Tapia is a tireless team player who can take the lead of any production. A consummate, experienced professional.
